Update on Precious

Precious Update. June 15, 2011

We are starting to see some improvement with Precious. She is still very itchy but her hair is starting to grow back in some areas. She has had a few hair cuts since she has been with us and she needs to wear her PJs less and less. We have been able to manage her scratching with just the Prednisone, so she has been taken off all her other medications. Pine Point Animal Hospital wanted to try her on a pork only diet so we tried that for a while but the scratching still continues. About 2 weeks ago her doctor decided that it was time to allergy test her to find out what she is actually allergic to. We are still waiting on results from that but we should know in the next few days. Once we know what she is allergic to, we can then decide what we need to do about controlling her allergies with possible allergy shots. Hopefully once we start the shots Precious will be able to get off the Prednisone, where Prednisone isn’t a good medication to be on for long periods of time. She is a very happy girl that loves to play with her pomeranian friend Cherry. She now is going for walks in the woods which she LOVES. She’s a very vocal little girl and will do just about anything to get you to throw a squeaky toy. Precious is now learning some of the basic fundamentals that every dog should know… sit, down, stay, although with her short attention span it is sometimes hard for her to focus.
